Here's a problem with my Mac G4/400 that I've been having for the last 2 weeks and I just about finally tried everything. What's more annoying is that it can happen at any time, whether I'm running installer, the finder, moving icons around on my desktop, iTunes, etc. It does not matter what I'm doing. It usually happens about 5-10 minutes after bootup.

I have been very successful in running finite structural analysis software on my Mac with Virtual PC; however, my latest software purchase came with a USB hardware lock.

No matter what I tried, the hardware lock would not be recognized by VPC. I even contacted Microsoft support desk, they told be to give up trying to get the two to work...so tonight....I had to do the unthinkable.

The most obvious thing wrong is my computer won't log in. When I turn it on, the startup tone goes off as usual. a folder icon with a question mark appears for half a second, then continues on the startup process. My question is: Can i use my old 6500 HD just as it is --with it s OS and a few files on it? My mother's got an Apple Mac 800MHz PowerPC G4. I'm not entirely knowlegeable with the Mac but its got a widescreen TFT on a movable chrome arm from a white dome.

My brother has a tower-based PowerPC Mac which I believe is a G3 running at 733MHz.

Both have PC100 SDRAM although my mother has 256Mb and my brother 512Mb.
