			<description><![CDATA[ I have been looking into upgrading the hard drive on my 3rd gen iPod to one of the Toshiba 60G drive that Apple uses in the iPod Photo. I understand that Apple may have made some modifications to the drive for the iPod. 			<description><![CDATA[ 1) I opened Musicmatch (the iPod-installed version).<br><br>2) I plugged in my iPod.<br><br>3) iTunes automatically launched (I'd just installed it recently).<br><br>4) iTunes asked me if I'd like to register my iPod. I said yes, and did so.<br><br>5) iTunes began to update my software.<br><br>6) After what seemed like a too-short update process, I tried to view my playlists on my iPod. 			<description><![CDATA[ hi<br><br>i recently was updating my ipod (pc formatted) when i accidently knocked the pod to the floor and the update process stalled and an error message came up on the computer screen. i closed the error box, dragged te files to the pod again and it all started copying the files again. i succesfully copied the files and unmounted the ipod properly.<br><br>a few minutes later i reconnected the ipod and the computer crashed instantly and upon restarting a blue screen appeared saying... ]]></description>

I charged the battery for about 30 minutes then hooked it to my computer with the optional dock connector with USB (PC laptop, sorry). The option to sync automatically comes at a cost in that it doesn't seem possible to then have playlists on the iPod. Instead it appears that the only playlist is the one created to sync to the iPod. Is there a way of having a base library in iTunes with an iPod library that would be the automated sync link which would also allow me to have playlists in iTunes AND the iPod?
