a few thoughts:

1) being cross-platform just plain sucks. having even one PC around can drag down your entire experience, and more importantly, is simply unneccesary. The geeks who say "I have a Mac and a PC so that I theoretically run any software, accomplish any task"? I can't identify with that, nor do I want to. If you're 90% of people, the Mac meets all your needs better than a PC. If you're in the other 10%, get a PC.

Being cross platform is a wonderful thing. In addition to being able to run most programs out there I can actually compare and constrast what I like about both Operating Systems (Mac and Windows). Here are some of my thoughts about Apple and Windows by catagory.

Games- Games are on the Macintosh platform "despite" Apple. Apple has never been ethused about gaming and it's definitely hurt the platform. I've often found myself unsupported in my computer needs because I am a Mac user. Interestingly, when I find myself left out in the cold, it's almost always a niche market software solution.
