My external hard drive contains almost 80gb of music so I manually sync between iPod and iTunes. The option to sync automatically comes at a cost in that it doesn't seem possible to then have playlists on the iPod. Instead it appears that the only playlist is the one created to sync to the iPod. Is there a way of having a base library in iTunes with an iPod library that would be the automated sync link which would also allow me to have playlists in iTunes AND the iPod? I have an iMac with OSX.3 with an original 20gb iPod.
