Educator discount for the new iLife is $29, not bad. The JamPack is $79 and the new mini iPod $229--$269 for the 15Gig iPod...

Wow, at MacRumors the moderator actually had to cut in and stop the thread, so many people were complaining about spending $49!
Perhaps the pain of losing a free ride brings out the expletives and name calling, I don't know. But this expo keynote really rattled a bunch of Macaholics! |

Just how much has Apple spoiled us as Mac users?
We go ballistic because Apple wants $49 total for the new versions of three excellent apps (all of which appear to be heavily innovated upon), plus brand new, groundbreaking app. Yet in the same keynote, Microsoft announces that it wants around $400 for an OK spreadsheet, an outclassed slide show tool, and a horrible word processor...all of which appear even more bloated, and none of which appear to be even slightly less annoying to use than in previous versions. Everyone is so accepting of the fact that Microsoft won't charge a fair price yet can't give us the kind of improvements we want, that we just accept it as a part of life. But Apple asks for a whopping $12 each for iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and Garageband...now them's fightin' words. We Mac users are spoiled rotten. Period. And that's OK, but we need to stop and realize now and then just how good we have it! - Bill P. |
